WHO WE ARE - WHAT WE DO

National Onion Labs, Inc. is a research and consulting company specializing in the flavor characteristics of onions – specifically sweet onions.

In laymen’s terms, NOL helps growers understand what Mother Nature is telling them.  Analysis of existing natural elements in the grower’s soils and water, combined with an extensive knowledge of the scientific properties and needs of onions, make it possible for NOL’s team to advise the grower on an optimum fertility plan for each individual field.


Prior to harvest, NOL's technical staff tests the onions grown by our clients in our laboratories.  The onions which come from those fields that pass rigorous testing become CERTIFIED SWEET ™ or even CERTIFIED EXTRA SWEET ™. Onions from around the world which have been able to obtain these flavor designations are sought after by leading distributors, grocers and consumers alike.

OUR HISTORY

National Onion Labs, Inc. (formerly Vidalia Labs International) was formed in 1998 by David Burrell.  The sole purpose, at that time, was to ensure Vidalia® sweet onion flavor for consumer satisfaction.  From this initial concept, National Onion Labs, Inc. has grown to provide a wide range of customized services to sweet onion producers in locations around the globe.

From a company with three employees in Collins, Georgia to a multi-national corporation with over 30 employees located around the world, NOL has become the leader in industry-changing onion technology.

Our future plans include the expansion of our international client base as well as increased services to our existing customers.
